Paramount Pictures has acquired the film rights to the Elizabeth Gilbert memoir "Eat, Pray, Love" and will develop it as a star vehicle for Julia Roberts, according to Variety.
Ryan Murphy ("Nip/Tuck" and "Running with Scissors") is set to adapt the screenplay and direct. Plan B Entertainment's Brad Pitt and Dede Gardner will produce. Plan B also teamed with Murphy on "Scissors," which was Murphy's feature film directing debut.
In "Eat, Pray, Love," Gilbert moved with her husband to the suburbs of New York and began trying to get pregnant, only to realize that this was not the life she wanted. After a painful divorce, she set off on a journey of self-discovery around the world with three main stops in Italy, India and Indonesia.
