I saw this movie last night and was completely moved. The characters are all equally present. I love the quiet moments. It is a movie in which the subtleties of emotion build over time and a completely irrational situation comes to be completely natural. The main character, Tarek, played by Haaz Sleiman is beautiful, almost transcendent. Personally, I've never thought about immigration until recently reading an article in New York magazine and then watching this movie. Our system is flawed. There is a lack of communication, understanding, and basic human kindness (I believe there is such a thing). I don't know much about this topic, but isn't the foundation of this country based on immigration? The idea of searching for a better world, better life is an American ideal at best.
