I have noticed more black models in magazines and advertisements. The latest installment of Banana Republic ads caught my attention. Beautiful Somalian model Yasmin Warsame is the sole brown face in the campaign. In them she's paired with a white male model, which marks the first time I can recall seeing an interracial romance themed ad from BR. Also, Liya Kebede & Jourdan Dunn are featured in February 2009 issue of Vogue. I do think the "all black" issue of Italian Vogue helped surge the appearance of black models or maybe it's because we finally have a black president. Go into any newsstand and Obama is the leading cover boy. Regardless, this topic is always up for discussion. PROGRESS.
