Last week I had the opportunity to see Tina Roth Eisenberg aka Swiss Miss speak at the AIGA/NY and Apple for the series, “Pro Sessions: Design Remixed.” Tina is the force behind swiss-miss.com, a design journal of infectious ethusiam and inspiring finds. Tina, who refers to herself as a “Swiss designer gone NYC”, started swissmiss in May of 2005 as a personal catalog of her daily discoveries. Currently, she stimulates the imagination of an average of 350,000 monthly visitors from all around the world. Her readers appreciate the wide range of design related topics, which span from graphic, furniture, font design to illustration, architecture and designy gifts. Based in Brooklyn, swissmiss broadcasts with an European viewpoint and a love for clear, Swiss functional design. She has worked at several prominent New York City design firms, including Thinkmap, Inc., where she designed the award-winning Visual Thesaurus. Tina is the founder and creative director of swissmiss studio, located in DUMBO, Brooklyn.
It is always inspiring and encouraging to see successful women designers who also are able to balance their career and family life. It makes me believe that I can do it too. Tina is a prime example of someone who set out to do something and actually did it.
