I Deserve Better

Love this from FFFFound.
"The greatest results in life are usually attained by simple means and the exercise of ordinary qualities. These may for the most part be summed up in these two — common sense and perseverance." —Owen Feltham

My friend told me about this the other day, I finally got a chance to watch it. The Mantis Parable was entirely created (story, visuals, animation, sound, and music) by Josh Staub as a labor of love over an 18-month period in his spare time. Please take time to watch, I'm sure we have all been a "mantis" in our lives.
The Mantis Parable has been a runaway international success winning awards at top festivals around the globe and qualifying (twice!) for consideration for an Academy Award nomination in the Best Animated Short Film category.

USA Network has launched Character Project, an ongoing artistic initiative to capture the character of America and pay tribute to the extraordinary people, from all walks of life, who make this country unique. Eric Ogden, one of 11 accomplished photographers participating in the project, shot portraits of musicians who hail from Michigan, including Iggy Pop, Andrew W.K., Bootsy Collins, Deastro, Andre Williams, and Detroit Cobras.

Fascinated by the social and cultural diversity of Los Angeles, Mathieu Young embarked on a four day, 20 mile journey across the city on foot. Pushing a large strobe light, he walked through L.A.’s neighborhoods, asking to photograph everyone whose path he crossed. "It was a remarkable experience to step out of the bubble and engage with the city’s changing landscape as it is reflected in the faces of its denizens." (Via Good magazine.)

I love U2's new album cover. According to the band, the photograph was taken by Japanese artist Hiroshi Sugimoto and represents “an image of the sea meeting the sky.” There’s also an equals sign, but it doesn’t actually obscure the horizon, thus No Line on the Horizon. It’s safe to assume we have an early front-runner for album cover of the year. This is the first time U2 haven’t appeared on their own album cover since 1993’s Zooropa. You can listen to the entire album on U2's website. Enjoy.

My mom emailed me this story last night:
It appears that one of the ladies of this very important part of groundbreaking Black history has sent pictures around the Internet so we could be aware of this momentous conclusion to Black History month with their advancement in aviation history. These ladies are taking care of business in the friendly skies and they serve as a powerful image for our young women to see. The various office jobs are no longer the only jobs that women hold. They are everywhere in every facet of the progress of America and the world. Check them out and give them a round of applause.

Askbigquestions is founded on the assumption that all human beings are ultimately concerned with some common questions of ultimate concern, including: Who am I? What is my heritage? What do I want my story to be? Who will my partners be? Who will be in my community? What will be my vocation in the world? Where will I make a home? What will be my legacy? These questions provide a common starting point for students of all backgrounds to interact with one another, and they are questions that all the world’s great religious and scholarly traditions address.
So, what's your big question?
